Margaret and I would like to wish District 1150 Rotarians, Partners, members of Inner Wheel , Interactors and Rotaractors a very happy and successful new year.
It is a time to ensure that the Club housekeeping is up to date with dues being paid on time and time spent to ensure that the second half of the 2005/6 Rotary year is as effective as the first half. For Club Presidents Elect, planning is no longer for next year, it is this year and time will pass extremely quickly. Only detailed preparation will ensure a successful Rotary year.
In November (28) under the Chairmanship of Bob Higgins (RFC) we held what must have been our most professionally presented Seminar at the University of Glamorgan Business School. On the 7th April next a second ‘Seminar’ will be held in the west of the District for those unable to attend the first. Do take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the Rotary Foundation. It is our own charity.
This year District 1150 has received great support from Inner Wheel and I am indebted to District 15 Inner Wheel Chaiman Mary Emment- Lewis for her enthusiastic and effective commitment to increasing co-operation between our organisations. Inner Wheel have taken up the Yorkshire Tea Caddies promotion and will be holding Tea Parties in the Spring to raise Money for the Rotary Foundation. Please support them.
We are also joining Inner Wheel with a major fund raising ‘Auction’ on the 10th March 2006.at the High Tide, Porthcawl. Rtn Rob Morrison RC Crickhowell is co-ordinating the Rotary side of things so please support him by donating gifts and pledges that can be entered in the ‘Auction. This is another opportunity to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation.
Whilst on the subject of Inner Wheel. How many Rotary Clubs have had a speaker from Inner Wheel in recent years? Not many. Inner Wheel has changed in many ways and as Rotarians we should be aware of these changes.
Like ourselves, Inner Wheel is looking for new members to ensure the successful future of their fine organisation, so Club Speaker Secretary. Give Mrs Shirley Davies a ring on 01685 872015.
The meeting we were due to hold on the 8th December to discuss this Project was cancelled as the number of clubs indicating their attendance Was not sufficient to make the meeting viable. Many clubs indicated Their intention to support the charity but were happy to let others decide on the location where the Minefield would be cleared.Disrict Governor Nominee Roy Blacker will be contacting clubs in the New Year.
Sincerely in Rotary Fellowship,
David Wiltshire
District 1150 Governor
